Full-Sized viola made in Saxony region in mid to late s. Made of maple wood with amber brown oil varnish. The back ribs and scroll have undergone revarnishing in a strong red colour. Pegbox has been repaired in the past and is still solid. The viola is in need of some small repair as 3 old cracks have reopened and the neck joint at the button is slightly loose. Price is reflected of this. Still plays exceptionally well.
Sale includes the case (valued at $60) and chinrest. NO BOW INCLUDED.
Prior to sale, viola was professionally appraised by luthier in Ottawa. Appraisal available on request.
